60 Portrait Challenge in Process



Sixty Portrait Challenge For Speed

As I progressed, I found ego dictated that I continued on to a better likeness and stop under 6 hours. I could see improvement in development, but not speed in the beginning. I became more relaxed during the first 2 hours than in my frantic first attempt. My self-challenge is to be able to do a decent job demonstrating in from of an audience. 

Portrait #1:   "Diego", Oil on Canvas, 8"x10", 2 hours 10 minutes

Portrait #3: "Kala",  2 hours. Black and white reference turned into a color portrait.


Portrait # 4: "Lucy Marie", 8"x10" oil on canvas. 2 hours. 45 minutes for mouth and teeth.


Portrait # 5: "Donna Charbonneaux Wilheim", 8"x10" oil on canvas. 2 hours.

Free Oil Portrait Offer- Limited time only

   
Hello, folks. I'm posting a personal challenge, you might enjoy.  I am doing 60 portraits in 60 days with the goal being a one hour painting time.

Rules:

  • 8"x10", oil on canvas.
  • Canvas is primed by me before hand.
  • I can paint for up to 2 hours and have to stop, and call it done, done or not. 
  • Portraits are free, volunteers can use the image however they like.
  • If the volunteer wants the original it is $20 for materials and shipping within the U.S.
  • Volunteers must give me an email release for usage, so I can post the results and for advertising purposes.
  • Image must be high definition.
  • One person on one canvas, one painting per person.
  • I select the portraits I will paint.
  • If at the end of 60 portraits, and I have not achieved my speed, and think it is still a possibility, I may extend the free portrait offer.



    I am doing this challenge to refine my approach, and to increase my ability to demo painting a portrait in an hour for my workshops and lectures. I have done 3 so far and my heart races and I am nervous while racing during painting them. When that calms down, I'll know the challenge is working even if I don't go faster.
